Shared offsite solar is a great choice for investors who don't want to have physical solar panels installed on their properties, as they are generally large capex items with long pay-back timeframes.
We want to keep our property portfolio fluid, whilst maintaining the benefits of our investments. Large, ground mounted solar is a fraction of the cost of home solar. It is also hassle free, as the Repairs & Maintenance are taken care of as part of the investment case.
The power generated is wheeled through the National Grid and allocated to an electricity account of our choosing.
This means that we can discount electricity rates for tenants, giving us a marketing advantage and differentiator when attracting tenants.
Why invest into Renewable Energy?
A typical bill is made up of your electricity usage plus 'non-energy' costs. These include grid charges, taxes and supplier costs.
As power is still supplied via the grid, these will still need to be paid these. This means that electricity bills won't be free, but should be a lot more stable.
As landlords, where utilities are generally included into our rental rates - price stability assists us to reduce our investment risk, now and into the future.
